Short biography:

Peter Fiasca, founder of True Classical Pilates, began studying Pilates in 1988 and was certified by Romana Kryzanowska in 1998. In addition to creating the well respected award-winning Classical Pilates Technique series of six DVD titles, Peter was invited by Romana to be in her first commercial DVD project. Over the years, Peter has continued to study with master teachers Jay Grimes and Kathy Grant, as well as other notable instructors in the field. Peter is devoted to helping preserve the traditional technique & spirit of Mr. Pilates’ original method. www.ClassicalPilates.net

Long biography:

Peter Fiasca, founder of True Classical Pilates, is from Southern California and began the Pilates method during 1988 at Wei Tai’s studio in New York City. He continued training with master instructor Romana Kryzanowska and was certified by Romana in 1998. Over the years, Peter has continued to study with master teachers Jay Grimes and Kathy Grant, as well as other notable instructors in the field. In addition to producing and directing the award-winning Classical Pilates Technique series of six DVD titles, Peter is a guest instructor at training centers all around the U.S. and internationally. Peter demonstrated Pilates, and periodically was a guest co-host on QVC cable television from 1997-2002. In 2001 Peter demonstrated a Pilates Mat workout taught by Romana Kryzanowska on her first commercial DVD project.

During the 1980s, Peter earned a M.A. in psychology and a M.Ed. counseling degree at Columbia University then completed his Ph.D. degree in 1992, and was licensed to practice psychology in 1997. Peter worked at well-respected mental health facilities in New York City such as The Post Graduate Center for Mental Health, Washington Square Institute and The Karen Horney Clinic. After relocating to Philadelphia in 1993, he worked as a staff psychologist and treatment team coordinator at Girard Medical Center’s inpatient and outpatient facilities. From 1997-2001 Peter worked at Abington Memorial Hospital’s Creekwood Center as a staff psychologist. During all this time the Pilates method remained in Peter’s body, heart and spirit.
